DIGI-KEY IS A HUGE SUPPLIER of electrical and digital components located in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. Starting in January 2023 they will be migrating their warehouse to a larger building. They need third shift workers (8:30 PM to 5:00 AM) to gather and package inventory for the move. It’s similar to working at an Amazon fulfillment center except the goods are going across the campus instead of out to the world.
Hiring is done through The Unbeetable Experience — the same people who hire for the annual beet harvest. The employment agreement with Digi-Key is for a three-month minimum which you can extend if you like — and if they like you. There are starting dates each month with the last one being in May (which would have you working the next three months).
To be eligible for these positions you must:
- Have basic computer navigation and typing skills
- Pass a short online assessment
- Hold a HS diploma or GED
- Pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English
- Must be able to regularly lift up to 35lbs
- Must be able to perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm motions
- Must be capable of spending 8-10 hours walking/standing on concrete
Your initial interview will be over the phone with a coordinator from The Unbeetable Experience. Subsequent communication will be via email, but you can call during office hours for answers to further questions. If you are hired you will receive a confirmation letter with all the details of when and where to report.
There are two lodging options with the employment package — both free to you. Until campgrounds/RV parks open for the season, everyone will be housed in hotels. Then, in the spring, those with self-contained RVs (Class B or higher) have the choice to use campgrounds. So if you’re a nomad in a self-converted vehicle without holding tanks and such, you can luxe it up with electricity, climate control, running water, and flush toilets. A hot shower after a night on the job is much more restorative than a sponge bath in your car.
This sounds like a good opportunity if you’re able to do this kind of work, if you can adapt to working the third shift, and if you go there in winter, whether you can tolerate sub-zero weather. In three months you could gross over $11,000 — more with voluntary overtime. For more information, contact the Digi-Kamp team at The Unbeetable Experience at 888-791-6738 or through their website. The Unbeetable Experience will also be in the Big Tent in Quartzsite in January. Stop by and tell them Bob Wells sent you.
Wow! What an awesome opportunity. Being given accommodations is amazing.
I’ve lived in Minnesota most of the time since 1962. Just to help you understand, from May for the next three months is a pleasant time of year to be in Northern Minnesota. Campgrounds don’t usually open before April 15th as water pipes are rarely past the risk of freezing before then. If you come while it’s still winter, be prepared to be cold and to have to dig your vehicle out of the snow every time you need to move it. Only you can decide if the money and benefits are worth it to you. $20/hour and free lodging is not something to sneeze at.
I applied here today, in hopes of avoiding becoming homeless. My fingers are crossed that I make it.
