    We all come with baggage, none of us is perfect. You can keep reliving negativity and let it control you or you can put it to rest and live each new day with a positive outlook.

      Jan Lear, wise words but… sometimes the baggage is such that’s hard to drop it & start anew.?

      A few reads propelled my transition to mobile:
      * BLUE HIGHWAYS
      * SAILING THE FARM
      * TRAVELS WITH CHARLEY
      * LOG FROM THE SEA OF CORTEZ
      … and John Muir and his extended hikes through the Sahara Nevada range.

        I read Blue Highways back in the day, never imagining I would be living in a van myself. But Least Heat-Moon left that thought in some corner of my brain.

          I found this on Wikipedia:

          “Although Blue Highways is remembered primarily for the physical trek, which covers about 38 of the 50 states in the U.S., the quintessence of the book is the internal journey that Least Heat-Moon takes. The blue highways allowed Least Heat-Moon the space and the freedom to reflect upon who he was, who he wanted to be, and how he fit into the greater world around him.”

          Yeah, I think the best part of nomadic life is the journey of internal discovery.

        Thanks for the recommendations! I’ve loved Blue Highways for quite a few years now and want to check out what you listed! Happy Trails! ?

    I just picked up a used ( signed ) copy of Blue Highways to reread two weeks ago. I first read it in 82 or 83 soon after it was published…..I’m converting a 2003 shorty school bus to do my own Blue Highway oddessy.
